YACademy, an excellent training program

Excellent names of architecture in a single program training: the 2019 editions of the YACademy are underway. Enrolments open until 19 April 2019.

The years of experience gained in the architectural field and the collaboration with the world's leading contemporary designers have led in 2017 to the creation of YACademy, a postgraduate educational program of excellence organized by YAC – Young Architects Competition.

YAC was born in 2013 from the intuition of three young engineers, and is now a well-established reality that promotes ideas competitions in the field of architecture, landscape and urban planning.

Six years after its birth, there are few students and young architects in Italy who do not know – and have not participated – in the proposed competitions, which encourage research and experimentation on concrete themes and places.

YAC is a privileged environment for young designers to express themselves in the intermediate phase between the end of their studies and the beginning of their work, an apical moment in an architect's career, in which it is possible to invest energy and it is necessary to begin to affirm one's own personality.

The first session of 2019 will open with two courses: Architecture for Heritage investigates contemporary strategies to confront and revitalize historical buildings; Architecture for Landscape deals with architectural design in landscape contexts of particular charm and relevance.

The courses will be held in Bologna in June and July 2019 and will combine various educational strategies, in order to provide diverse tools and points of view: from frontal lectures by professionals and teachers to design workshops, from visits to some leading companies in the construction industry to internships in some of the most renowned offices in the world.

Among the firms involved in the YACademy project are: OMA (Rotterdam), Eduardo Souto De Moura (Porto), David Chipperfield Architects (Milan), Jean Nouvel Design (Paris), Aires Mateus e Associados (Lisbon), Snøhetta (Innsbruck), HHF (Basel), Stefano Boeri Architetti (Milan), Jensen & Skodvin (Oslo), Mario Cucinella (Bologna), Edoardo Tresoldi (Milan).

There are eight scholarships for each course, which can accommodate a maximum of 25 students.
