Aprirà il prossimo 2 dicembre presso la National Gallery of Victoria di Melbourne la mostra evento dell’anno intitolata “Between Two Worlds I Escher X nendo”, un’occasione davvero imperdibile per ammirare oltre 160 stampe e disegni dell’artista olandese M.C. Escher in un allestimento immersivo firmato dal pluricelebrato studio di design giapponese nendo.

La prima grande presentazione in Australia dell’opera dell’artista, “Between Two Worlds I Escher X nendo” ne racconta l’intera carriera attraverso un’ampia collezione di opere realizzate tra il 1916 e il 1969, un prestito del rinomato Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (il Museo Municipale dell’Aia, Olanda, che ospita tesori tra cui 300 opere di Piet Mondrian e “La ragazza con l’orecchino di perla” di Vermeer).
Quello di Escher e Nendo è un connubio sensazionale: ad accomunare l’artista e lo studio nipponico sono infatti l’arma della meraviglia, il genio artistico non comune, la visione immaginifica e unica. L’allestimento ideato dal team di Oki Sato, uno dei protagonisti assoluti della scena di design internazionale, sarà un’ingegnosa e affascinante messa in scena basata su spazio, geometria e percezione e valorizzerà i capolavori di Escher riproponendoli in un contesto nuovo e fortemente sensoriale. Dopo il progetto architettonico CoFuFun realizzato per la piazza della stazione di Tenru e la caleidoscopica installazione site-specific inaugurata in occasione del 90esimo anniversario della scuola Ikebana Sogetsu di Tokyo, ci si aspetta un progetto espositivo destinato a sorprendere: non per altro la mostra evento è il fulcro della stagione 2018/2019 di uno tra i musei più prestigiosi dell'intera Australia e si preannuncia come evento di portata mondiale.
Oltre alla mostra “Between Two Worlds I Escher X nendo”, il programma del Museo NGV prevede una serie di eventi ed esposizioni tra cui le personali dedicate a Polly Borland, Julian Opie, Hito Steyerl, and William Wegman.
