The London Mastaba: Christo invade Hyde Park

The London Mastaba è l’ultima iconica installazione pubblica di Christo, la prima nel Regno Unito. L’artista bulgari ha realizzato un prisma trapezoidale sul Serpentine Lake, formato da 7.506 barili poggiati su una piattaforma galleggiante. L’opera è accompagnata da una mostra gratuita alla Serpentine Gallery, con gli ultimi lavori di Christo e Jeanne-Claude e un approfondimento sulla loro passione per botti e barili.

La scultura è alta 20 metri e costituita da elementi colorati di blu, rosa e rosso in testa, con ai lati strisce bianche su fondo rosso.
“Per tre mesi, The London Mastaba sarà in contatto con il paesaggio di Hyde Park, nel centro di Londra”, ha detto Christo, “i colori trasformeranno la luce e i riflessi del Serpentine Lake, come in un grande dipinto astratto”.
