Porro

#106 New ideas from Porro range from a small family of sideboards by Lissoni to a compact daybed by Gamfratesi and an elliptical table by Front. #salone2015

This year’s protagonists are Piero Lissoni, the leading interpreter of Porro style, Swedish trio Front, which confirm its affinity with the company in the Ellipse table, and the Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi duo, whose first experience with Porro has spawned the Traveller daybed.

Lissoni has designed Ipercolore, a small family of sideboards raised on small metal feet that plays on the contrast between clear-cut minimal design and an exuberance of colour. The two formats are developed in a red that lightens to become orange and yellow.

In this new venture with Porro, the Swedish designers confirm their free approach to a design that draws inspiration from different worlds. An indoor/outdoor table with a strongly sculptural effect, Ellipse was born out of the encounter between two parts: the top and base are two regular ellipses balanced one on top of the other in a daring experiment combining curved surfaces.

Finally, GamFratesi presents the Traveller daybed, a trestle structure in black-painted metal on which to place towels and clothes. Natural leather is saddle-stretched across the sides while the mattress and cushions are covered with fabric.
