The evolution of the glass on display: from Gio Ponti to today

“Forme del Bere” (Forms of Drinking) is an ongoing exhibition in Murano, Venice, where the bound between glass and design is retraced through the works of both great masters and new talents.

The exhibition “Forme del Bere” is a project curated by Elisa Testori in the halls of InGalleria, the Art Gallery of Punta Conterie in Murano. At the center there is the theme of glass, seen as an object of use and as an artifact. A reflection on the possibilities of declination of this product of everyday life in an exhibition that includes about fifty “forms of drinking”.

The exhibition is dedicated, on the one hand, to the glasses designed for the occasion by 9 designers, including Lorenzo Damiani and Giulio Iacchetti, who conceived different types of items, from water to champagne glasses, reinterpreting the object itself.

On the other hand, the history of glass in the 20th century, told through the projects of international designers and Italian and European manufacturers. Glasses in series, small series or “out of series” tell how masters and districts have overcome the formal limits of glass with innovative techniques. Among the designers, artists and artisans are Achille Castiglioni, Aldo Cibic, Joe Colombo, Alessandro Mendini and Domus founder Gio Ponti.
