Two Murano glass lamps explore the suspended aura of light

Designed by Federico Peri for Purho Murano, Haute and Petite look at the potential of glass engraving and the effects of alternating layers of color.

A continuation of research already begun with a line of vases and candlesticks by the Murano brand Purho, the Haute and Petite lamps experiment with the decorative results of engraving a cylindrical glass shape and the murrina effect created by the superimposition of different layers of color.

"It is a simple project where everything is very evident”, explains the designer Federico Peri. “The engravings manage to give poetry to an object that would otherwise be a simple glass cylinder, and that now seems to express a suspended soul". The apparent formal simplicity, however, corresponds to a laborious technical procedure: not only as regards the study of the lighting outcomes of the different types of engraving, but also the multiple passages in different furnaces that add layers with a different chromatic iris.

Both the table-top version, Petite, and the refillable version with a satin-finish aluminium base, Haute, are available in three models - Silk, Doll and Stripe - each distinguished by its taping, pleating and horizontal lines and available in crystal, smoked and rosé colors.
