Los Angeles, il nuovo museo dell’Academy progettato da Renzo Piano

L’Academy Museum of Motion Picture apre il 30 settembre 2021, con la missione di essere “coinvolgente proprio come un film”.

All’angolo tra Wilshire Boulevard e Fairfax Avenue, a Los Angeles, Renzo Piano ha restaurato lo storico Saban Building dandogli nuova vita. Dedicato all’arte e alla scienza cinematografica, l’Academy Museum offrirà varie esperienze e approfondimenti, unendo le due grandi passioni dell’architetto: la progettazione e il cinema.

Il Saban Building, edificio di sei piani che rappresenta il passato, ospiterà aree espositive, una sala da circa 300 posti, spazi dedicati alla formazione ed eventi speciali, archivi, un negozio e una caffetteria. Ponti trasparenti uniranno poi il corpo di fabbrica preesistente al un ampliamento sferico, il futuro, che ospita il David Geffen Theater e alla Dolby Family Terrace, con vista diretta sulle colline di Hollywood. Più che un museo in senso stretto, questo centro dinamico della cinematografia sarà al tempo sperimentale e divertente, educativo e coinvolgente.
