“Spazi Sospesi”: rethinking the public space through innovative practices

Curated by Ground Action, the event focuses on public space and brings a selection of national and international cross-disciplinary practices to Florence.

“Spazi Sospesi” is a series of conferences curated by Ground Action and organised by Fondazione Architetti Firenze (FAF) and the board of the architects of Florence (OAF), with the support of the Municipality.

Structured around moments of discussion and urban walks, the event debuts on 27 and 28 September at the Palazzina Reale by Giovanni Michelucci (1935).

“Spazi Sospesi” aims at fostering the debate on public space in relation to the contemporary practice of the profession, with a particular attention towards cross-disciplinarity, participation, instant and site-specific actions.

Each of the three conferences will bring together a selection of practices: on September 27 and 28 Coloco (Paris), Analogique (Catania), Babau Bureau (Venice), HPO Collective (Ferrara) and Scuola del Terzo Luogo (Lecce) will gather at the roundtable moderated by Giulia Ricci (Domus), and the referee – who has the role of bringing suggestions from other disciplines – will be Christiane Rekade (Kunst Merano Arte).

On October 11 and 12, the guests include Umschichten (Stuttgart), BdR Bureau (Turin), From Outer Space (Milan), False Mirror Office (Genova) and Gnomone (Rome); on Novembre 22 and 23, Davide Tommaso Ferrando (Innsbruck University) will moderate a roundtable involving Camposaz (Trento), Fosbury (Milano), Robocoop (Roma), Senzastudio (Catania), referee Sociolab (Florence).
