ARX2 Studio recently completed the conversion of an historic building located in the center of Milan into a hostel, also taking care of the accomodation and design of most of the furniture. The intervention, agreed with the Superintendence of the Monuments in Milan, keeps the building organization untouched. It is intended to adapt the original spaces to the changing needs of the accomodation, introducing new materials and adopting formal choices imprinted to coexist with the expressive richness of the original architecture.

At the ground floor there are the reception, the music area and the bar-bistrot with the kitchen and accessory spaces. The natural light filters from the colored windows creating surprising effect on the neutral base of the enamelled walls and the resin floor that decline the grey in soft and tenuous acceptation. The plastic richness of the vaults covering the salons is enhanced by the luminous artistic installations.
The intermediate floors are occupied by the multiple rooms, typical in this kind of accomodation structure, characterized by the great variety of the vaults. The rooms are equipped with metal beds, custom-made designed as well as other furnishing items. Each level features relax and wellness oriented spaces for the guests.
