A nest house in the midst of nature in Stockholm

Located on the top of a small hill surrounded by vegetation, the vacation home designed by the architecture firm Norell/Rodhe for a family of four frees itself from the constraints of city life and offers its inhabitants an immersion in the natural context of the countryside south of Stockholm.

Developed in length on a single floor and facing the forest rather than the side clearing, as if to suggest a desire for strong communion with green, the building is characterized by the almost exclusive use of wooden materials and the profile of the iconic pitched roof that, on one side, extends to feature a veranda. Distinguished by large glass openings that visually connect the interior with the exterior, the facade plays with the diversity of geometric shapes to break the predictability of the order imposed by the porch poles.

The interiors cancel any net partition between the rooms, including the bedrooms, and favor a fluid arrangement of environments defined by the presence of scenic backdrops, with a single marbled cork wallto contain and divide the bathroom. The visible elevation of the pine floor over the concrete basement, as well as the choice of different finishes and painted walls, rejects the aesthetics of simplicity and rigor typical of huts and tiny houses, supporting the desire for visual sophistication more frequently sought in urban contexts.
