Shameless Copy presents replication as a design methodology

Through the maquettes of their projects, the Brazilian studio Terra e Tuma presented an exhibition, now only digital due to Covid-19, against the continuous search for architectural innovation.

As part of the Liga Espacio para Architectura agenda, an independent platform that promotes contemporary Latin American architecture in Mexico City through exhibitions, conferences and workshops, the studio Terra e Tuma had planned an installation on the theme of copying and replication in the architectural field.

The Brazilian studio, founded by Danilo Terra, Fernanda Sakano, Pedro Tuma and Juliana Terra, presents, through maquettes of their main projects, a manifesto of their design methodology: a discipline of copying and replication. Shamless copy, retracing the thinking of Paulo Mendes da Rocha, is a challenge to the contemporary dogma of constant innovation and originality at all costs.

Unfortunately, as announced on Liga’s official website, the inauguration scheduled for March 18th has been cancelled due to the general lockdown. However, the project is available online to open a dialogue and reflection on the theme.
