Art and music flourish at the Museo Orto Botanico in Rome

An exhibition curated by the Roman collective CultRise brings together eight site-specific interventions and the protected natural species of the botanical garden.

“Arte | Musica | Cultura”, vedute della mostra, Museo Orto Botanico di Roma, 2018

“Art | Music | Nature” are the ingredients of the exhibition curated by the CultRise cultural association at the Museo Orto Botanico in Rome, open until 22 September 2018. The site hosting the exhibition is not a context enclosed by four walls, but 12 hectares of park with more than 2,000 square meters of greenhouses: one of the largest botanical gardens in Italy. Escaping the abstract white cube of the galleries, the initiative proposes an educated dialogue with the species protected by the museum, experimenting with lightness, gravity, vertical leaks and suspensions. Site-specific installations are by eight international artists: James Hillman, Andrew Iacobucci, Jerico, M_O, Moneyless, Giulia Mangoni, Wrong and Gianfranco Toso. During the inauguration day a musical review was organized by RadioCircolo.

As demonstrated also by Manifesta 12, the European Nomadic Biennial that this year dialogues with the urban and natural heritage of Palermo, art and the various contemporary expressions can be a tool to make us read and experience in a different way the beauties of our cities, and specifically may be the new species to be cultivated and flourished in gardens and parks.
