The design of residential spaces in high-density metropolitan areas has become a challenging task for architects: in Taipei, Taiwan, PhoebeSayswow Architects provided an answer taking advantage of a partial double-height 33 sqm flat.

XS apartment develops in three different levels, where the entrance floor corresponds to the living area, connecting the kitchen and bathroom area with the bedroom: a stair-bench softly connects first two spaces, while a movable ladder brings to the upper floor. A wooden storage wall occupies an entire perimetrical wall of the apartment, visually unifying the three levels. The materials are distributed according to the functional and sensorial needs of the space. Birch wood creates a warm atmosphere in the bedroom and living room. The simplicity of glazed tiles is combined with pink grouts, giving the space a playful twist.
