Bouroullec: Glas Italia / 60

Glas Italia has brought a fine assortment to Milan Design Week, including a system developed as small desks, benches and a shelf.

This specialist glass company has brought many interesting proposals to Milan. We especially like the works by Patricia Urquiola and Joannna Grawunder, who have “played” with coloured glass and graphic design solutions to create two coffee tables that are very different but equally unusual.

The most successful project appears to be the one developed by the French designers who, making their debut with Glas, focused on a simple and geometric collection that mixes glass with wool and felt. Diapositive is centred on the glued assembly of glass panels with corners protected by these soft materials – a solution that manages to distance the pieces from the sense of fragility automatically associated with glass.

The collection includes desks in two sizes, benches and a shelf, all in a range of colours developed specially for Diapositive: dark grey, light grey, pink, orange and clear - in both monochromatic and mixed-colour solutions.
