La Petite café reinterprets desert in a minimalist key

Overlooking a garden, a café in the United Arab Emirates brings local traditions and materials up to date, highlighting through subtraction a hyper-contemporary space.

In the city of Al Ain, a tourist attraction in the United Arab Emirates close to the border with Oman, La Petite café is redesigned by Bone agency getting inspiration from the colours and materiality of the surrounding oasis and desert.

Overlooking the garden's vegetation, the long bar finds its catalyst in the masonry counter. Conceived on two different heights, the monolith allows baristas to work standing, and customers to sit down as if in front of a coffee table.

The seats update the Arabic tradition of the majlis, the community sofa, and integrate minimalist chairs with a strong geometric line and aluminium coffee tables. The use of finishes inspired by the tones of raw earth resonates in the choice of fabrics and calibrated accessories, outlining a desaturated environment that invites idleness and relax.
