Open call: imagine a new design product with the use of pre-existing objects

The two platforms In Residence and say hi to_ have launched the open call Graft to ask designers and artists to design new objects through the hybridization and transformation of existing elements.

In Residence e say hi to_, two platforms for sharing and researching contemporary design, launch an open call on their Instagram profiles.
Through the project Graft, the two platforms reflect on the necessary changes that this particular moment of uncertainty requires us to undertake, exploring alternative possibilities of visions of the environment, natural or anthropic, that we live every day.

Grafting is an exercise of transformation, or hybridization, through a new combination of two or more existing objects, with the aim of generating another one. Graft is a project through which to assemble existing objects, characterized by a specific function or not, with the aim of creating artifacts useful to produce “new awareness and knowledge”.

Those interested in the open call, expiring on June 17th, are invited to design an innovative device, resulting from the combination of the limited objects we have at the moment available. Among the designers involved: Wendy Andreu, Martino Gamper, Kwangho Lee, Jorge Penades, Sophie Rowley, Roberto Sironi and Zaven.
