Located on a hill and immersed in a calm surrounding in Aguas Claras, in Chile, Origami House was designed by Mas Fernandez Arquitectos Asociados as a vacation home. Distributed on 182.5 sqm, the building is made of prefabricated and modular materials contributing to a fast execution phase and low construction costs. The house follows the shape of the landscape, leaning on the ground on the side where the entrance is located, or being slightly suspended on the veranda side overlooking the panorama. Folded in multiple parts, the metalic roof is shaped as an origami piece of paper, leaving geometric glazed openings for the light to pour inside. Large spaces are built using steel structures over the SIP panel construction system that supports the building providing a good thermic isolation. The interiors, covered by native treated pinewood, include four bedrooms and a living area linked with the kitchen through an opening in the wall. The glazed walls in the living area allow sights on the exterior and look at the veranda that runs for the entire length.
