France. An Eco-hotel on the lake

Atelier Lavit designed a scattared hotel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, consisting of 10 wooden huts along the lakeshore.

The Eco-hotel by Atelier Lavit is located in the fishing reserve of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a few kilometres away from Avignon. It consists of ten units, huts unevenly scattered on the shores of the lake of La Lionne. Each suite establishes a specific relationship to the context: some are floating on the water, while others follow the typology of the palafitte.

The architecture of the lodges dialogues with the lake reeds, taking up the vertical upward momentum and then rationalizing their arrangement, much more geometric, regular and repetitive. The density of the wooden vertical elements of the screens protect the suites according to the exposition to light and wind. The wooden structure is largely prefabricated, reducing production and on-site costs during installation, impacting the landscape as little as possible.
