Dual exhibition at the Falegnameria Cavalleroni in via Palermo where the wall finishes in porcelain stoneware by Pierre Charpin for Ceramiche Piemme create a dialogue with the latest new products from Tacchini by Pearson Lloyd and Gordon Guillaumier.

“I chose the name at the end of the project” explains Charpin. “All the patterns are based on fragments of designs from a few years ago that have been reworked. What is more the designs set into the forms are fragments of images of stone that Piemme use for making large tiles that imitate other materials such as marble and stone. The patterns on the tiles were started last year with a design by Gordon Guillaumier and there will be another collection after mine. So we can think of it as a fragment of the company’s history”.

“Visiting the factory, I realised that the introduction of digital printing has revolutionised the world of tiles enabling ultra-realistic products to be made”, continues Charpin. “I thought I should approach this project without prejudice. 3D printing makes me think of the history of plastic laminates that initially imitated other materials then gradually was emancipated from this idea of reproducing something and found its own path”.
