Lisbon’s long and eventful history becomes visible in the architecture that captures the various circumstances and cultural moments that the city has experienced. Surprising in its technical excellence, this architecture remains nevertheless either inaccessible or unknown to most Lisbon dwellers.

In keeping with its four previous editions, Open House Lisboa proposes a tour of 73 such testimonies to the city’s architectural excellence, opening up to the audience at large places and sites that are usually not available or not known to them. And, although around three million tourists visit the city every year, this programme is essentially aimed at Lisbon dwellers.

This year we included works from renowned and emerging authors that bring different typologies such as urban plans, museums, schools, theaters, palaces, private houses or studios, which go through several centuries of the history of Lisbon. Dozens of specialists enrich the visits in OH Lisboa, to provide the audience with a deeper perception of every space.

Thinking about the youngest, we present Open House Júnior with activities that put children in the skin of an architect, appealing to their curiosity about the architecture that surrounds them. Programa Plus returns and includes workshops, paths, bike tours, performances and film sessions. We also provide some help with our thematic itineraries, simplifying the choice among so many spaces worth visiting.
