Designed by talented Harshit Sahu, a young designer of Indian descent, Note is a sleek desktop whiteboard with a twist. Its minimalist look hides advanced functionality thanks to its state-of-the-art e-ink screen.
This sophisticated, digital hybrid combines a traditional magnetic whiteboard with a smart screen like Amazon’s Echo Show. Featuring a tilting surface that allows you to take notes freehand, this innovative design is perfect for jotting down ideas and diagrams, thanks to its supporting dotted grid. Like any other slate, it can also be used to place ordinary sticky notes.
Note is a uniquely designed device that measures just over thirty centimeters on its longest side and has square-like proportions. What sets it apart is the vertical screen on the left side, which displays the time, calendar, and synchronized appointments from your smartphone. But that’s not all. The display also provides access to further functions, including music playback – thanks to its integrated speaker, you’ll never miss a beat.
The design – completed in just two weeks – also includes a backlit power button on the lower right side of the device, and a magnetic connector located on the opposite side along the base, needed for charging.
The solution proposed by the product designer has the potential to boost workplace productivity while also reducing paper waste. It also represents a modern-day evolution of two classic analog work tools – magnetic boards and perpetual calendars. In Note we can catch echoes of Enzo Mari’s two renowned calendars, Timor and Formosa.
At the moment, Note is just a concept and there is no information available about possible production and commercialization.
