Brand collaborations are the last trend in sneakers design

From the exclusive collaboration between Nike and Louis Vuitton to the latest Prada footwear repainted by Cassius Hirst, the streetwear world continues to collect brand collaborations.

Like the world of haute couture, the streetwear market can’t seem to help but incentivise the purchase of its products through exclusive collaborations and limited edition launches. The best trainers of 2022 come from every part of the style continuum, from general mass-produced releases to ultra-exclusive releases that leave just a few pairs up for grabs. There are designer and designer models, with the collaboration between Reebok and Eames Office, and old models in new colours, such as the iconic Prada shoes reimagined by Cassius Hirst.

In particular, when it comes to sneakers, Nike controls a large slice of the market. The Swoosh covers every aspect of the equation, from performance footwear to high-profile collaborations. From anime to movies, high fashion to ice cream brands, the brand has introduced many unique trainer collaborations over the years. Unsurprisingly, Nike’s trainer collaborations are among the most prominent, this season finally bringing to market footwear prepared in collaboration with Louis Vuitton during the Spring Summer 2022 show. Along these lines, a collaboration with French fashion house Jaquemus will also soon arrive, aiming to “reinvigorate the celebration of the multidimensionality of contemporary athletes”.

We present a selection of the most interesting collaborations presented so far this year.
