American artist Barbara Kruger (b. 1945) took over Alvar Aalto’s iconic Stool 60 in a limited edition of 300 pieces at a price of £400 each. Kruger’s Untitled (Kiss) (2019) is part of ICA Artists’ Editions, a series of commissions to support the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London) programme. The stool has been produced in collaboration with Finnish furniture brand Artek – founded in 1935 by Alvar and Aino Aalto – and features the word kiss in Barbara Kruger’s typical font and colours. Each stool is hand-numbered and finished with the artist’s stamp of authenticity. At Frieze London, the ICA will be presenting new editions by Mathieu Malouf, James Richards and Jordan Wolfson.
