Purism on show in Grenoble

More than 70 paintings and 20 drawings, reunited at the Musée de Grenoble, retrace the birth and development of Purism from 1918 to 1925. The exposition opens with the works of Picasso, Braque, Gris and Léger to gather the last phase of Cubism from which sprang the painting movement led by Amédée Ozenfant, Le Corbusier and Fernand Léger.

A key element of Purism is a magazine called L’Esprit Nouveau. The monthly covers not only art, architecture, music, theatre, literature but also sociology, psychology and the aesthetic of engineering, through which the principle artistic and cultural exponents of the period confront, meet and express themselves.
