Located close to the city of Algaida, Mallorca, MM House is a residential project by Salvà Ortín Arquitectes. The complex, surrounded by nature, is organized on two floors and is conceived to connect the interiors with the surrounding landscape. Large openings – mostly oriented on the back to guarantee privacy – provide, in fact, views on the Spanish hills and terraces in a physical connection with the outside.
The building, distributed on 270 sqm, is made of multiple interconnected volumes of different heights and slopes, producing a movement also visible inside. Interiors are organized around the double-height dining room, considered the main area of the house, around which all other rooms and functions are articulated: living room, kitchen, stairs to the first floor, terrace on the main facade and hall.
Wooden floor is interrupted by dark-grey ceramic tiles, emphasizing the zones and visually separating the various spaces. The structure of the roof is left visible: concrete and wooden beams support bricks made of marès stone, a local material. On the second floor, organized again around the central dining area, there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
