Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia designs a landscape in the landscape of the Emilian Apennines

Cones, annuluses and trapezoids: the Italian studio composes elementary geometries to tell the story of the sports car brand.

The Dallara Academy narrates the story and corporate culture of the well-known racing car brand. Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia has completed a building that carefully fits into the hilly landscape of Varano de Melegari, near Parma, relating with simplicity to specific elements of the territory: a mulberry tree, the profile of the mountains, the agricultural system and the river Ceno.

The volumetric composition follows Dallara’s design process: distinct elements and functions are aggregated but in balance with each other and in harmony with the topography of the place. Femia uses elementary geometric forms – cones, trapezoids, parallelepipeds and annuluses – to distribute three zones: experiential and educational areas, conference rooms and exhibition spaces. The complex is conceived as a place for research, meeting and design, reflecting the excellence of the Italian industry.

“We wanted to draw the landscape within the landscape, introducing a new public space, a catalyst for activities, capable of overturning the perceptive modalities of the area that are, to date, the movement of the cars, their speed and the entertainment”, said Alfonso Femia.
