New Delhi. Renesa Studio transforms a rooftop in Gurgaon in a photography studio

The spaces of Raw Lens are designed to host the studio of a photographer in Gurgaon, New Delhi. One of the main goals is the expansion of the existing volume. To achieve this, the architects maintained the original plan while closing part of the terrance.

The floor plan is divided in three main areas: a large space at the entrance which is flexible as it adapts to the necessities of team work, as well as meetings. The second space occupies the former terrace with proportions that are ideal for individual study sessions and work, distributed along the strip window. This room is directly connected to the third area, a terrace that offers a panoramic view on the city. Wood, concrete and plaster are the materials that characterize the studio. While concrete and plaster have a rough finish, wooden surfaces are polished as they are treated with a local technique named Tel-paani. The use of wood – paving in the entrance space, door and window frames, furniture – gives a sense of unity to the whole project.
