Beijing. The Tree Art Museum is a meeting place (with fishes)

The museum by Daipu Architects is a public space that allows visitors to communicate with light, trees, and water.

The museum designed by Daipu Architects in Beijing is a public space where people can stay, date and communicate. Visitors can choose getting into the space either through a ramp or the courtyard. The first courtyard is separated from the main road by a bare-concrete wall. People can stay and chat under a tree in the courtyard, or just feed fishes by the reflecting pool. Meanwhile, they can enjoy artworks and watch other people lingering inside the building through curtain wall. In the concrete wall, there is a corridor which is utilized to exhibit books and small sculptures. The curvature varies slightly along the path.

The second courtyard introduces nature light to the back exhibition hall and meeting room on second floor, while separating the public and privacy needed. There are six courtyards, patios, terraces or skylight on 2,695 sqm site. Besides the two bigger ones for exhibitions, there are four more openings lying on the upper part. Two terraces apply sunlight to the back space and introduce skylight to the exhibition hall below. Two little patios are on the top of the floor, which also open to sky.
