Rosenberry residence

Designed as a holiday house in the middle of the woods, this residence by FABG architects is developed around two different speeds: for the young and for the old generations.

This residence Located on a large wooded lot near Sutton in the Eastern Townships region in Canada, FABG Architectes designed a holiday cottage conceived as a bi-generational residence.

The layout of the house is developed among two wings disposed at right angle, in order to minimize noise transmission between the two floors, since the occupants will be living on very different daily rhythms, having to adapt to twelve hours of time zone separation.

On the ground floor of the west end of the building, the architects positioned the common areas, the kitchen, the dining room, the living room in a big open space and also the private rooms of the older generation.

The second floor is reserved for the young ones, showcasing a living room, guest rooms, a terrace and a bedroom that offers a unique view of Mount Sutton. The house, sitting on a podium with a swimming pool and a lawn terrace, is clad with black lacquered aluminium panels and white cedar accents. The hybrid structure is made of wood, steel and concrete floors with radiant heating while the glazing of the curtain wall and windows include a low-e coating.
