IKEA has expanded its smart home offering with a new range of devices compatible with the Matter standard. The update introduces 24 products that cover smart lighting, various types of sensors, and simple control accessories. The company said the goal is to simplify setup and improve compatibility with other ecosystems.
The company says the products come after years of testing how people actually use connected devices at home. Thanks to the support for Matter, the updated system works with a wider set of platforms, and the DIRIGERA hub can manage devices from any other Matter-compatible brands. DIRIGERA also works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri through the Apple Home app, which makes voice control possible across ecosystems.
The new lineup centers on three functional areas. Lighting covers an expanded family of smart bulbs with various formats, brightness levels, and color or white spectrum options. Sensors can detect motion, air quality, humidity, temperature, and water leakage. Control accessories consist of a series of remotes and a smart plug that adds power scheduling or remote switching to non-smart appliances.
The launch positions IKEA as a large player in the broader smart home trend, focusing on real world utility rather than experimental features. The company plans further expansion into additional categories with an emphasis on accessibility and ease of use.
