Diego Marcon’s exhibition at Teatro Gerolamo celebrates 20 years of Fondazione Trussardi

From 5 to 30 June, the disturbing works of Marcon will be welcomed in the fairy-tale spaces of the long-abandoned Milanese puppet theater, giving rise to an eerie and surreal experience.

The Fondazione Nicola Trussardi continues its twenty-year project of mobile museum with which Beatrice Trussardi and Massimiliano Gioni have rediscovered and transformed different places populating temporarily them with the works of many significant contemporary artists.

From 5 to 30 June 2023, the Fondazione will present the first Diego Marcon’s institutional anthological exhibition in Italy at the Teatro Gerolamo in Milan, a puppet theatre famous for the puppet shows of the Fratelli Colla company and known as “la piccola Scala” (the little Scala) due to its miniature proportions and the precious architectural details – designed in the nineteenth century by Giuseppe Mengoni, the same architect of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.

Rediscovered after the war by Paolo Grassi and relaunched in the seventies by Umberto Simonetta, this place retains an enchanted and fairy-tale atmosphere, which dialogues with Marcon’s films, videos and installations, which gives rise to mysterious and disturbing chamber dramas that see as protagonists puppets, children and creatures suspended between the human and the post-human.
