Located on Saadiyat Island, a cultural hub positioned off the coast of Abu Dhabi, the Abrahamic Family House, designed by Adjaye Associates, is an interfaith complex containing a a church (His Holiness Francis Church), a synagogue (Moses Ben Maimon Synagogue) and a mosque (Imam Al-Tayeb Mosque), houses of worship for the three Abrahamic religions – Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

The project is composed of a trio of cubic buildings with flat roofs, each of the same volume but distinguished by specific details. The three buildings rise from a plinth that contains a gathering space, a library, and an elevated garden. The plinth recalls the universal concept of a mound, which intends to bring people closer to higher things and encourage interfaith dialogue.
“I believe architecture should work to enshrine the kind of world we want to live in, a world of acceptance, openness, and constant advancement,” Daniel Adjaye said, and added: “Our hope is that through these buildings that celebrate three distinct religions, people of all faiths and from across society can learn and engage in a mission of peaceful coexistence for generations to come”.
