Snøhetta’s three pavilions in Hong Kong revisit the tradition of Asian sanctuaries

In the Pavilia Farm residential complex in Hong Kong, the Tea House, the Sky House, and the Farm House were designed to help calm the minds of the big city inhabitants.

For New World Development, Snøhetta has designed three common spaces for the residential complex “Pavilia Farm” in the Tai Wai district of Hong Kong. The project includes three buildings – the Tea House, the Farm House, and the Sky House – which will provide greenery and escape opportunities for residents seeking a respite from the city’s pressing pace.

Since the number of people living in the cities is now higher than ever, Snøhetta hopes to offer through its vision a sense of calm and balance to the inhabitants of urban areas, thanks to the design of spaces highly integrated with nature. These three pavilions, in fact, are conceived as “a space where all the residents can find peace and calm, but also interact and connect with each other”, said the partner and CEO of Snơhetta Asia, Robert Greenwood. Not surprisingly, a significant component of the project is water, in particular its sound and flow.

The Tea House and the Farm House have already been completed and have just opened, while the Sky House should be ready by the end of this year.
