OMA, in partnership with American technology company Jacobs, designed the American research organization Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) headquarters. Dome-shaped, the glass-and-metal eight storeys tall building will be located in Chicago in The 78 neighborhood, at the moment under development.

The 200,000-square-feet building will have a high-visibility glazed facade with horizontal metal panels that will serve as brise soleil and will house office space, classrooms, and laboratories; while the ground floor will be dedicated to public spaces, such as cafes and shops.

“Programs are organized to maximize efficiency and potential to converge, and variegated layouts are configured around a central zone of collisions,” said Shohei Shigematsu, OMA New York partner.
