New iPhone 16 unveiled, the first with integrated AI

Apple has just unveiled four versions of the new iPhone 16, as well as the new Airpods 4 and Apple Watch Series 10. Here are all the new features.

At the “It’s glowtime” event on 9 September at its Cupertino campus, Apple unveiled new models of three of its devices: Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, began with the presentation of the Apple Watch Series 10, continued with three models of the new AirPods, until the great awaited, the iPhone 16 with integrated AI, available from this autumn in four different versions.

iPhone 16

The big news on the new smartphone line-up is Apple Intelligence (which we already told you about), which will be introduced with the iOS 18.1 update, although it will initially only be available in English.

The new line of smartphones includes the iPhone 16 with a 6.1-inch screen and the iPhone 16 Plus with a 6.7-inch screen, both available in three new colours in addition to the classic white and black. The cameras are arranged vertically, but the new feature is the introduction of Camera Control thanks to the side button (Action Button), which already replaced the historic ring/mute switch on the 15 model, with eight different possible and configurable functions.

The two Pro and Pro Max models, 6.3 and 6.9 inches respectively, will use the A18 chip like the base versions, but will be more powerful and will retain all the Pro technologies of the previous versions.

AirPods

Apple unveiled AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2: the real kicker seems to be in the health department: "With a revolutionary update to the world's best-selling headphones, AirPods Pro will offer groundbreaking new features, including hearing test and hearing aid capabilities, to help more than a billion people with hearing loss," said John Ternus, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering.

Also unveiled was a new model of AirPods Max, which are unchanged from their first generation four years ago and have been refreshed with five new colours and USB-C charging.

Apple Watch

Billed as "the slimmest and thinnest Apple Watch ever", the new AW Series 10 has the largest display to date to simplify all operations and a battery that charges faster than previous models (it can go from 0 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes). Some of the most notable features introduced include water depth and temperature detection, as well as enhanced health features, including a system that helps detect signs of sleep apnoea.
