Almost every kind of project – except for skyscapers! – can be realised on a low budget with an accurate choice of materials and the capability to organize space. Have a look at these ten projects recently published on Domusweb: houses, religious buildings, public spaces, shops and apartments.

– Keeping the walls untouched as much as possible, Raúl Sánchez Architects refurbished a house in a beach town next to Barcelona, using textures and materials to unify spaces.

– The Pachamama cafe in Montréal sells Argentinian empanadas introducing the “fast good” dinining concept, which combines fast service and casual dining.

– The interiors of the Krush-It gym by Estúdio Amatam in Braga, Portugal, are made with low budget materials applied in a distinctive way, reflecting the club’s attitude: strength and exclusivity.

– This house in Mexico by Comunal: Taller de Arquitectura features a modular and prefabricated building system, based on panels made with bamboo oldhamii.

– Vrtical studio designed a low budget brick temple for the new Hare Krishnas community in Guanajuato: with simple modular elements it was built by the community itself.

– Studio Palinda Kannangara dotted a single family house with several courtyards and gardens, to have a forest feel within a busy neighborhood in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka.

– The purpose of the project by peris+toral.arquitectes is to reorganise a green space in the town of Badalona, Spain, as well as to address the interurban scale.

– Squatting is a basic human instinct, and Robot 3 Studio uses the wormhole theory to revive neglected places in Beijing, giving a psychological shift to a ramen restaurant.

– In Lisbon, Fala Atelier converted a garage into a house, leaving the structure in its original state and giving the space an industrial, yet cozy touch.

– Canadian studio Scott & Scott Architects transformed a shop into a space dedicated to Japanese knives and culture in Vancouver, lead by chef Douglas Chang.

– Built to achieve the maximum energy efficiency and out of a low construction budget, Oh Lab designed a house in Mallorca that needs very little energy maintenance.
