Created in 2012 and now containing a total of 25 pieces, the Objets Nomades line is devised to showcase Louis Vuitton’s long tradition in the crafting of original and charming portable pieces of travel furniture. For 2017, ten new objets have been added to the series. They include a soft sofa by the Campana brothers, inspired by clouds and the shell of Sandro Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus; a chair by Atelier Oï, whose strips of leather are like traditional Vuitton belts or handbag straps, buckles included; and a precious rocking chair by Marcel Wanders.

Two new designers were asked to contribute, Tokujin Yoshioka and India Mahdavi. The latter created the Talisman table, a small, intricately crafted piece inspired by the amulets of nomadic tribes. Its metal structure is covered with a leather inlay.
Analogue to a book, the Talisman aims to be a vehicle of stories and tales that bring good luck, like in Oriental tradition. The geometric pattern of the circular top comes from the same line of thought: it is conceived as an eye that wards off evil.
