A pop up store of the Japanese fashion and textile brand Minä Perhonen is open at Artek in Helsinki. The pop up is part of the programme for the Helsinki Design Week.
Managing Director of Artek Marianne Goebl says: “The dialogue between the two companies began in Japan back in 2008, where we discovered the brand’s poetic textiles. For an exhibition, minä perhonen designed a custom made fabric for the Alvar Aalto Stool 60. Since then, our dialogue has never stopped and our collaboration has continued, so far with products intended for the Japanese market only. Akira Minagawa’s products bring cheerful lyricism into our everyday life.”
“I admire Alvar Aalto’s work. We have a lot in common with Artek, and it seemed meaningful to do something together. Finland feels close to me, because the country is part of my soulscape” says Akira Minagawa.
