Rodrigo Caula: Dipped

Like strawberries coated in chocolate, the cutlery set designed by Rodrigo Caula for Christofle appears as if its been dipped into a thick bath of silver.

Since its first electroplating experiments conducted in 1841, Christofle has a long tradition of Silversmithing.

During the occasion of Maison et Objet in Paris, and in celebration of more than 185 years of French craftsmanship, Los Angeles-based designer Rodrigo Caula has conceived Dipped, a three-piece series of cutlery that draws inspiration from the Parisian company’s 19th century manufacturing techniques and current production methods. Like strawberries coated in chocolate, the spoon, fork and knife collection appears as if its been dipped into a thick bath of silver, only to reveal its intricately hand-beaten, raw silver tips.
