Marc Krusin for Desalto

#113 Marc Krusin, who worked at length for Piero Lissoni, has designed a table-sculpture for Desalto that plays with daringly balanced minimal surfaces. #salone2015

The Clay table designed by Marc Krusin for Desalto and presented at this year’s Milan Design Week balances the top and base one on the other in a bold experiment with a surface reduced to the bare minimum.

The UK designer resolved the critical construction detail presented by the top resting on a tapered base by developing a connection piece which, despite its small size, does not compromise the stability of the table. Constant technical research by the company has produced a coating for the MDF-top version made from a special lava-stone paste that is spread by hand using a palette knife to instil a sense of naturalness but also strength.
