Alfredo Häberli: Stammtisch table

The Swiss designer has completed a new wood and steel sheet table for furniture manufacturer Quodes, inspired by the "social" tables found in cafes all over the world.

Swiss designer Alfredo Häberli has designed Stammtisch, a new table for furniture manufacturer Quodes. Inspired by the "social" tables found cafes all over the world, Stammtisch seeks to bring this idea into the home.

Stammtisch features sophisticated details, combining light wood with laser-cut steel sheet. The wooden legs re connected to the metal fram like the handgrip to a knife, in what intends to be a playful quotation of the Swiss army knife. The tabletop features angled edges, which seem to move outward at both ends, while curving slightly inwards at the sides. Adding to the informality of the table, a lower horizontal bar allows users to rest their feet when sitting.

Stammtisch was first presented during the Salone del Mobile 2012, inserted in an installation designed by Häberli for kitchen brand Schiffini. It will be available with several frame colours and wood types, with the choice of a rectangular or round tabletop.
