Stone, wood, metal. The house designed by Theo Coutanceau Domini in the centre of Bordeaux, France, is a tribute to natural materials, raw elements resistant to time. “Sacre coeur, stone house”, the result of renovation of a ruined building, consists of a space on two levels, in which the main living room combines all the functions. The lack of ornamentation and finishes reveals the strength of the greyed wood of the ceilings and floors, the oxidised metal and the stone used on the walls. “The place encourages users to re-examine their own notion of comfort disregarded from luxury”, the architects explain. It is a small space that aims to guarantee calm and serenity, where people can think, live and inhabit. The space features a solid walnut table, a bench, a white sheet for projecting films and leather seats arranged on the floor.
