On the occasion of Salone del Mobile 2018, Pierattelli Architetture designed a small hidden garden, located in the center of the Porta Nuova district, in Piazza Gae Aulenti. Hidden Garden is a sneaking oasis of 100 square meters, characterized by a thick turf created by Gruppo Giardini, with 200 aromatic plants and four large trees. The external panels are made of Krion, a material with antibacterial and photocatalytic properties that helps purify the air, while the internal ones are made up of mirrors that reflect the surrounding space giving the impression of being endless.
The installation consists of two sets of 45 panels arranged parallel to one another, 10 cm apart, which, in addition to concealing the garden from the square, leaving only slices and perspectives to glimpse from the outside, are thought of as “empty canvases”, decorated by anyone who wants to express its creativity. Drawings, murals and thoughts remain on display for 24 hours, before being easily erased to make room for new creations the next day. The garden is enriched by the presence of furniture accessories Vitra: three Eames Elephant and three Panton Junior for the area dedicated to children; four Vegetal, two Panton Chairs, two MVS chaise and three Metal Side Tables in the rest of the garden. The space can also be visited at night, thanks to the lighting with plays of light and shadows by FLOS.
