Elena Salmistraro designed a room for Ikea

A colourful and lively room designed by the Italian designer and artist, in the setting up of the San Giuliano Milanese store of the Swedish company.

During the setting up of the night area in the IKEA sales point in San Giuliano Milanese, began a collaboration with the young Italian designer and artist Elena Salmistraro. The room was designed for “a young creative woman who has just moved to frenetic Milan to work in the world of graphics. Passionate about art, fashion and culture: from her travels she draws inspiration for her creations and then wraps them with fantasy, colour and a strong symbolism.”

Salmistraro, known for its eccentric and colourful design, transposes its cheerful and ironic world into this room. Between the checkerboard carpet, the double bed and the tropical plants, walls and floor are detailed by geometric graphics with orange, pink and blue gradient colors, and dark contours with a pop taste. On a vertical separation, moreover, the designer has created, with the use of furniture from the Swedish company, the face of a strange giant figure, with eyebrows created by LED lighting.
