Biennale Interieur 2020 postponed to 2021

Also the 27th edition of the Belgian Design Biennale, curated this year by Italian designers Piovenefabi, is forced to postpone the event until next year, due to the health emergency.

The Interieur Biennale, the Belgian design event that was to take place next October in Kortrijk, has officially announced new dates. Interieur 2021 will be inaugurated from 21 to 25 October 2021, due to the difficulties caused by the pandemic and the social distancing to prepare the event in time this year.

For Interieur 2020, its 27th edition, an installation designed by Piovenefabi studio would be realized. The Italian duo, composed of Ambra Fabi and Giovanni Piovene, had planned a narrative itinerary based on the theme of the building for the missed visitors.

But, like many other cultural events, the organizers of the Biennale found themselves forced to postpone the edition. “The impact of the Coronavirus is immense,” says Jo Libeer, CEO of the Biennale Interieur. “Uncertainty reigns and investments big and small are being post- poned. As an organization, we have to take up responsibility both towards our exhibitors as towards our visitors. Since we want to guarantee our known level of quality, we have decided to postpone the 27th edition of the Biennale Interieur by one year.”
