The Nendo design studio has been dealing with the design, or rather customization, of a tuna fishing vessel. The main request was to make this workplace more comfortable and welcoming, as a crew of this type of boat is used to be isolated in the open sea for entire months, in conditions that generate physical and mental stress in most of the younger members.

The work done on the exterior and interior of the boat seems almost more like a graphic design project. In fact, the tools used to characterize the ship are geometric patterns composed by the repetition of lines and circular shapes, drawings inspired by a decontraction of the logo of the client company, the Usufuku Honten.
The key idea was inspired by the evident difficulties of the crew to stay so long in a context so foreign to them by nature. Here the obsessive repetition of lines and geometries that should bring to mind the life ashore - the linearity of buildings, doors, smartphones.
In order to make the spaces of the vassel even more comfortable, in addition to the unusual presence of Wi-Fi, the personal area per person and the height of interior spaces have been increased.
