The former Conterie di Murano, an industrial 22.000 square meters complex for the production of glass from 1830 until its closure in 1993, have now become a cultural hub dedicated to arts, design, food and wine. A project of urban regeneration – the recovery of an abandoned area – inspired by the concepts of total art and fluid space, without interruption between different worlds such as craft, wine and green blended harmoniously. Acquired in 2017 in accordance with the vision by entrepreneurs Alessandro Vecchiato and Dario Campa and inaugurated in September 2019 after two years of careful redevelopment, Punta Conterie is divided into six spaces: a place for temporary exhibitions with a bookstore, a shop, a restaurant and bistrot, respectively dedicated to culinary research and fresh gastronomy; a cafè with its own pastry laboratory, and eventually the scents and colours of a flower boutique. The main focus is the concept of “experience”, both in content and space. The result is a single large environment where industrial red bricks blend with the cement resin of the floor and the murrine of the island’s great masters of local glass manufactures such as Lino Tagliapietra, Fratelli Toso, Effetre Murano and Claudio Tiozzo.
