Antica Birreria: an industrial restaurant in the heart of Palermo

Studio DiDea designed the interiors of a new, anything but Mediterranean, 800 sqm restaurant-pizzeria in the center of the the Sicilian city.

In the heart of Palermo, Sicily, Studio DiDea turned a former clothing store into a restaurant-pizzeria halfway between a Northern European brewery and an Italian trattoria, Antica Birreria Heineken.

It combines the typical elements of the gastro pub - wood and padded seats - with distinctly industrial details, such as the exposed systems on the black ceiling and the iron profile that runs on the upper edge of the antiqued oak wood paneling.

Noble materials such as the green Guatemala marble of the bar counters and the brass of the chandeliers, together with the gray and white checkered floor, soften the rustic aspect of the space giving it a "speakeasy" touch.

Cement-based resin walls, electro-welded meshes for ivy to climb, Flos lamps and leather benches complete a successful synthesis of current trends – the industrial ones - and the timeless beauty of hard materials.
