They are still prototypes, but they will be soon mass-produced for the Vitra Accessories Collection: the new Vases Découpage by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec are cylindrical ceramic vases with grafts of shapes and bars that make them look like an abstract watercolor. Each shape is cut from a slab of clay and combined with the others in order to create unique and whimsical compositions. The bars that come out of the cylinder are obtained by extrusion.
“Each bar is extruded, therefore deformed,” Bouroullec explain. “Some of them point upwards, others form bridges. Their arrangement forms a fragile balance and colors and layers converge until a new harmony emerges from contrasts”.
