The apartment is small, but the view is beautiful and the terrace that surrounds it is large. Organizing the 38 sqm of space at its best, this was the work of Ylab Arquitectos for this mini-apartment in the Gracia neighborhood in Barcelona, located on the top floor of a residential building. The apartment is a pied-à-terre for an Australian couple who wanted to privilege the living area (the bed is extracted from the wall). Space is warm. Functional and versatile. This functional intervention proposes the main space constituted by the kitchen, an island that divides and characterizes the spaces and a living area. Behind the kitchen there is a private area dedicated to work leading to the bathroom. The design and the furniture are all made ad hoc, alternating white satin with natural white oak.
As a result the apartment is a simple and warm place, but not without attention to detail. The window frames, whose holes could not be modified, have been renewed. Wall coverings hide cabinets with different depths and functions. The original concrete ceiling is covered with white wood, and hides the imperfections of the construction. The nucleus formed by the kitchen island and the wardrobe, finished in white lacquer, is the only partition wall. The kitchen island extends the work area and forms a lower dining table. The living area is furnished with light and easy to move furniture. The bathroom has a shower and the same material and a large sink.
